We work in healthcare quality data every day, so we publish what we find. The analyses are built from public federal data only, with named sources and file hashes, and the caveats stay in. Anyone can read and cite them, and anyone can challenge them.

The EHR quality gap.
1,510 health centers report both their EHR vendor and their clinical quality rates to the federal government. We joined the two; as far as we can tell, nobody had. The vendor gaps are real (a 14-point spread on cervical screening) and they survive size stratification. The spread within every vendor is bigger than the gap between them.

Median ER visit: 148 minutes nationally, 243 in the slowest state, 105 in the fastest. At the worst hospitals, up to 23% leave before being seen.

ACOs that include health centers match the rest on quality and savings, and beat them on meeting the quality standard. As far as we know, nobody had published this.
Rural hospitals win on patient experience
Critical-access hospitals out-score big acute hospitals by a full star on HCAHPS: 78% vs 69% would definitely recommend.
Two companies run American dialysis
DaVita and Fresenius operate 74% of facilities. The surprise in the data: scale isn't the quality problem.
